Root Canals
Root canal therapy enables our dentists to extend the life of a tooth that was damaged by decay or injured in an accident. Decay or injury can introduce bacteria into the soft, inner tissue of the tooth. An infection in this tissue destroys the viability of the tooth but its function can still be saved.
In root canal therapy, we clean out the soft, live tissue inside the tooth, all the way to the root. We then sterilize the canal and fill it with a type of latex. The tooth is then sealed up. Because this tooth will eventually become brittle, we recommend a crown to enhance its durability.
